Sri Lanka made a winning start to their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a 20-run victory over Ireland at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 163 for 06 in their allotted overs. Kamindu Mendis struck 44 off 19 deliveries, while Kusal Mendis remained unbeaten on 56. Chasing a target of 164, Ireland were bowled out for 143 in 19.5 overs. Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 03 wickets each. Meanwhile, 03 more matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 are scheduled for today (Feb. 09). Italy will take on Scotland in Kolkata, India, with the match set to begin at 11.00 a.m. local time.
