SL gets 10 more Bailey bridges from India

India has dispatched an additional consignment of 10 Bailey bridges to Sri Lanka to support ongoing reconstruction efforts following damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah, the Ministry of External Affairs of India announced. The bridges were shipped yesterday (Jan. 31) from Visakhapatnam to Colombo aboard the Indian naval vessel INS Gharial to help restore critical transport connectivity in areas affected by the cyclone. The supply of bridges is a part of India’s Special Economic Package of USD 450 million announced during External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar’s recent visit to Sri Lanka. It follows India’s earlier humanitarian assistance and disaster relief support provided under Operation Sagar Bandhu after Cyclone Ditwah. continues to stand with to support reconstruction efforts after #CycloneDitwah.
