Sri Lanka’s final chance of staying in contention at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ended yesterday (Feb. 25). In the decisive Super 8 encounter at the R. With the defeat, Sri Lanka’s hopes of advancing to the semi-finals were dashed, despite having one Super 8 fixture remaining. The scores: New Zealand – 168/7 (20 overs) (Mitchell Santner 47, Luke McConchie 31*, Maheesh Theekshana 3/30, Dushmantha Chameera 3/38) Sri Lanka – 107/8 (20 overs) (Kamindu Mendis 31, Dunith Wellalage 29, Rachin Ravindra 4/27)
