Special notice on resolving issues in the fuel QR system and new registrations

2026-03-16 - 16:27

The Ministry of Digital Economy states that the technical issues currently affecting the National Fuel Pass system are being successfully resolved. Accordingly, the Ministry expressed confidence that all existing obstacles will be removed and the system will be fully restored by tomorrow morning (17). In particular, vehicles whose ownership has been legally transferred through the Department of Motor Traffic after August 2023 are required to obtain a new QR code. The Ministry further emphasised that system updates required for these new registrations are currently being carried out continuously. If the ownership of a telephone number linked to a QR code has changed, or if the relevant telephone connection has been disconnected, the relevant information has been communicated to the respective mobile service providers. Accordingly, the process of incorporating the updated data provided by these companies into the system through the Department of Motor Traffic is also currently underway. Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has requested the public to refrain from accessing fraudulent links circulating online and providing their personal information when registering for the fuel pass. In order to prevent misuse of data, the public has further been advised to always use only the official government system and to contact the 1919 hotline for any issues.
