SriLankan Airlines has issued an urgent warning after a fraudulent message falsely using the national carrier’s name and branding began circulating widely on WhatsApp and Facebook. The airline stated that the fake promotion, which features its logo and convincing visuals, is designed to mislead the public into believing it is an official offer. The message reportedly urges recipients to click suspicious links and provide personal information. In a public advisory, SriLankan Airlines confirmed that the circulating offer is a scam and stressed that it does not request personal details or payments via WhatsApp, Facebook, or other social media platforms. The airline urged the public not to click on unfamiliar links or share sensitive information such as NIC numbers, passport details, one-time passwords (OTPs), or card information with unverified sources. SriLankan Airlines further reminded customers that all genuine promotions and communications are issued only through its official hotline, website, mobile app, and verified social media pages, and called on the public to remain vigilant against online scams.
