Super 8 stage of T20 World Cup begins today

The Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup gets underway today (21), with the opening match to be played between Pakistan and New Zealand. The match, to be played as a day-night fixture, is scheduled to commence at 7.00 p.m. at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan, who competed in Group ‘A’ of the preliminary round, lost only to India and finished second in the points table of that group. Similarly, New Zealand, who played in Group ‘D’ of the preliminary round, were defeated only by South Africa and also finished second in their group. Pakistan and New Zealand have displayed evenly matched performances in their Twenty20 encounters. Since 2007, the two sides have faced each other in 49 matches. Out of these, Pakistan have won 24 matches, while New Zealand have secured 23 victories.
