The 96th “Battle of the Maroons” cricket encounter between Colombo’s Ananda and Nalanda Colleges concluded today (01) without a result. This marks the 77th encounter between the two schools that has ended in a draw. The three-day match, held at the SSC Grounds in Colombo, saw Ananda College, batting first, declaring their first innings at 353 for 8. In reply, Nalanda College scored 424 for 8 before declaring their first innings. This historic encounter began in the year 1924. It was played for the Dr. N. M. Perera Memorial Trophy. Ananda College had won 12 matches, while Nalanda College had won 7.
