President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be among 20 world leaders attending the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to commence tomorrow in New Delhi and continue until Friday. The President is due to participate in the summit sessions on Thursday and Friday. An advance delegation, led by Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy, will travel to India to take part in tomorrow’s inaugural proceedings. The summit is being convened at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Other prominent leaders expected to attend include French President Emmanuel Macron, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, President Dissanayake is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. These will include discussions with President Macron and President Lula da Silva. Countries to be represented at the highest level at the summit include Bolivia, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Guyana, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Seychelles, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. In addition, ministerial delegations from more than 45 countries are expected to participate. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and senior officials from several international organisations will also join the deliberations. Officials noted that the India–AI Impact Summit will bring together global leaders, policymakers, innovators, and experts to deliberate on the future direction of artificial intelligence. The summit is anchored in three guiding principles — People, Planet, and Progress — which define India’s approach to international cooperation on AI.
