Train services on Puttalam line resume today

2026-02-16 - 04:40

Sri Lanka Railways (SLR) says train services on the Puttalam railway line will resume up to Puttalam railway station from today (Feb. 16). Accordingly, the line will be fully reopened, and trains will operate from Colombo Fort railway station to Puttalam, the SLR added. Meanwhile, the passenger train services on the Puttalam line, which were temporarily suspended, were resumed to Negombo, Kochchikade, Nattandiya, and Kuda Wewa railway stations in several stages and were extended to Chilaw railway station on Dec. 29. Train operations to Puttalam had been disrupted by several incidents, including track damage near the Baththulu Oya bridge between Chilaw and Puttalam, a mound collapsing onto the line near Thilladiya railway station, and erosion at multiple locations close to Manuwangama railway station. Accordingly, the following passenger train services are planned to operate from today.
