Two more suspects who allegedly aided and abetted the shooting and killing of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda, Thalangama, have been arrested by the Western Province South Crime Division yesterday (06). The suspects were arrested for allegedly assisting the crime by transporting one of the gunmen by bus to the Monaragala area following the incident. Police stated that the suspects are residents of Ibbagamuwa and Makola, aged 39 and 53 respectively. Investigations have revealed that one of the suspects transported the gunman using a bus that had been purchased with money provided by an organised crime gang member who is currently overseas. The bus in question has also been taken into custody by investigating officers. Several police teams are currently conducting investigations into the murders, which took place on 13 February. Accordingly, officers from the Western Province South Crime Division and the Homagama Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau have so far arrested eight suspects, including the two gunmen involved in the crime and others who aided and abetted the offence. Further investigations are being carried out by the Western Province South Crime Division.
