A woman has been arrested by Horana Police after allegedly tying her husband to a concrete pole and beating him to death with an ekel broom (Idala) following a domestic argument. The deceased, Gamini Padma Kumara, a resident of Saluyan Watta, Poruwadanda, had worked at a local bakery. According to police, the man, heavily intoxicated, had gone to a nearby house yesterday (Feb. 24) and was reportedly harassing the residents. She then reportedly tied him to a concrete pole and struck him with an ekel broom. There, he had fallen and died on the spot, police say. Meanwhile, the incident has been investigated by the Magistrate along with Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO). The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Horana Magistrate’s Court, with further investigations ongoing under Inspector Ranga Perera.
