Woman arrested over death of businessman in Ganemulla

Ragama Police have arrested the wife of a businessman who was found dead on the upper floor of his 02-storey residence in Welipillewa, Ganemulla. The deceased has been identified as Susantha Dhammika (60). His 54-year-old wife was arrested on suspicion in connection with the death. She was produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court and remanded until Jan. 30. Police have also recorded statements from the suspect and the victim’s daughter, who was at the house at the time of the incident. Authorities said the arrest was made due to inconsistencies in the wife’s statement that raised suspicion during the investigation. The death is reported to have occurred on Jan. 22.
